The short answer

BGL runs three private rooms and they solve different problems. White Pixies Studio is 500 sqft for up to 15 pax from $40/hr and stays alcohol-free. AnyBirdie is 1,000 sqft for up to 15 pax at $99/hr with two golf simulator bays. The Loft is 1,700 sqft for up to 40 pax from $59/hr, with karaoke, pool, arcade and a kitchen. Four questions in the quiz below will point at one of them.

The search usually starts before the plan is finished. You know roughly who is coming and roughly when, but not yet whether the night wants a games room, a golf bay, or a quiet studio with good light. Picking the space first and bending the party to fit it is how people end up somewhere that does not suit them.

Work the other way round. Four answers decide the room, and none of them is the photo on the listing.

The four things that decide the room

Headcount. At BGL this one is close to binary. Up to 15 guests and all three rooms are open. Past 15 and only The Loft works, because it is the only space rated to 40 pax.

Alcohol. White Pixies does not permit it. The Loft and AnyBirdie both do, and you carry your own in with no corkage. That single answer either removes a venue or keeps it.

The activity. Plenty of parties need something to do by hour two. Golf simulators exist at AnyBirdie only. Karaoke sits at The Loft with 4 mics and AnyBirdie with 2. Mahjong and board games are at White Pixies, while The Loft adds a pool table, an arcade and table tennis.

What the room is for. A work offsite, a milestone birthday and a lazy Sunday of mahjong all want different furniture. Match on purpose, not on square footage alone.

Something we noticed after enough of these: most messages that land on our WhatsApp open with a version of "which of your three spaces should I book", and the answer nearly always hangs on a detail the sender has not mentioned. Whether drinks are coming. We now ask that before anything else, because it settles White Pixies in or out and halves the shortlist in one reply.

FAQ: party venues in Singapore

How do I choose a party venue in Singapore?

Settle four things before you look at photos: headcount, whether alcohol is part of the night, what people will do once the food is finished, and what the occasion actually is. The first two rule venues in or out on their own.

Which BGL venue holds the most guests?

The Loft at 42 Foch Road, 1,700 sqft across two floors and rated to 40 pax, from $59/hr. AnyBirdie and White Pixies both cap at 15, so any group past 15 goes to The Loft.

Can I bring my own drinks?

At The Loft and AnyBirdie, yes, with no corkage. White Pixies Studio is alcohol-free, so plan a soft drinks night there or take one of the other two rooms.

Which room works if the group needs an activity?

AnyBirdie for the two golf simulator bays. The Loft for karaoke, pool, arcade, table tennis and mahjong. White Pixies for mahjong, board games and a projector.

Are all three venues open late?

The Loft, AnyBirdie and White Pixies all run on 24hr access, so a slot that ends after midnight is normal rather than an exception.
