The short answer

Rain, heat, or a group that cannot agree on a plan. The fix most people forget is renting a room instead of joining a queue. BGL runs three private venues in the central belt, booked by the hour from $40, with golf simulator bays, karaoke, a pool table, arcade, table tennis, mahjong and board games between them. Pick what you feel like doing in the filter below.

A wet afternoon in Singapore usually plays out the same way. Someone suggests a mall, then remembers everyone else has gone to the mall too. The cinema kills conversation for two hours, the cafe politely times you out, and the arcade puts you shoulder to shoulder with strangers. None of it is bad, exactly. It just is not a hangout.

The overlooked version is booking a room. Not a function hall with a per-head minimum, just a private space by the hour with things to do already inside. You get the whole room for your slot, you set the volume, and nobody is hovering to reset your table.

What is actually inside a private room

The three BGL spaces book in hourly slots rather than day packages. What separates them is less floor area than what is bolted to the walls.

The Loft at 42 Foch Road is the games-heavy one: 1,700 sqft over two floors, up to 40 people, from $59/hr. Pool table, arcade, table tennis, mahjong, and karaoke on four mics so a duet does not involve passing a microphone back and forth. There is a kitchen, alcohol is allowed, and access runs 24 hours.

AnyBirdie is the one with two golf simulator bays. 1,000 sqft, up to 15 people, $99/hr, karaoke on two mics, drinks, and parking on site. You do not need to golf. Half the fun is watching someone who has never held a club try to hit a green.

White Pixies Studio is the quiet option at 500 sqft and from $40/hr, with mahjong, board games, a projector and speakers. Worth knowing upfront: no alcohol there, and the toilet is nearby rather than in the unit.

Pick by what you feel like doing

Most group plans stall on what, not where. Choose a mood and a rough headcount, and the filter names the room that matches.

The team can usually tell it is raining without looking outside. Enquiries jump about an hour after a downpour starts, and the message is almost always the same shape: eight to twelve people, tonight, anything with games. Weekday evenings stay open longest, so a Tuesday washout is easier to rescue than a Saturday one.

Before you book

Two things decide whether a room works. Capacity first: 15 is a hard ceiling at AnyBirdie and White Pixies, and only The Loft goes to 40. Then food and drink. All three are bring your own with no corkage, but alcohol is allowed at The Loft and AnyBirdie only, which rules White Pixies out if drinks are part of the plan. Full specs sit on the our spaces comparison, and the private event venues guide covers booking in more depth.

FAQ

What indoor activities can a group do in Singapore when it rains?

Beyond malls and cinemas, the overlooked option is renting a private room by the hour with the activities already inside. Across BGL's three venues that covers golf simulator bays, karaoke, a pool table, arcade, table tennis, mahjong and board games.

Where can a group hang out indoors without booking a restaurant?

A private hourly venue beats a restaurant table for a group that wants to stay put. The Loft at 42 Foch Road takes up to 40 people, AnyBirdie up to 15 with two golf simulator bays, and White Pixies Studio up to 15 with board games and a projector. Each is booked as a whole room, not per head.

How much does a private indoor space cost per hour in Singapore?

Rates start at $40/hr for White Pixies Studio, $59/hr for The Loft and $99/hr for AnyBirdie. You hire the room rather than a seat, so cost per person falls as the group grows, and there is no corkage on what you bring in.

What suits a group of 20 or more?

The Loft is the only BGL space above 15 people, at 1,700 sqft and up to 40 pax. Karaoke on four mics, a pool table, arcade, table tennis, mahjong and a kitchen keep several things running at once.
